TECHNOLOGICAL PRACTICE cycle one, block one 2011

After camp, Year 7 students will develop and prepare a new muesli bar based on brief and use a planning tool to complete this outcome. They will organise a taste testing day to seek stakeholder feedback.
The Year 8 students will use a planning tool to develop and make flavoured butter to the needs of their client. They will organise a taste testing day to seek stakeholder feedback in order to refine their outcomes. Extenson students will design and use their own planning tool.

TECHNOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE CYCLE ONE
TECHNOLOGICAL PRODUCTS
The year sevens are learning to identify materials used in technological outcomes, describe their performance properties and give reasons for their selection. (block one- dust mop, block two-, block 3-)  

NATURE OF TECHNOLOGY CYCLE ONE
CHARACTERISTICS OF TECHNOLOGICAL OUTCOME
The year sevens are learning to describe the physical and functional attributes of products and describe the links between them.
The year eights are learning to describe examples of technological outcomes that have different physical attributes but similar fuctional attributes and vice versa. In addition, extension students will use examples to describe "proper" functions and "other" functions of technological products.

CHARACTERISTICS OF TECHNOLOGICAL OUTCOMES
The year eights will select a technological outcome they used or saw during school camp and describe the positive and negative impacts of this outcome over time on the environment and society. In addition, extension students will identify the skills and knowledge necessary for making the outcome selected.
